the nitty gritty

  • In the event of an emergency, in your absence, you authorise us to contact the nearest Veterinarian and authorise the Vet to treat the pet as necessary at your expense.

  • "De-matting" or complete coat removal will dramatically alter your pet's appearance. This procedure may expose pre-existing health/skin problems for which George’s House Dog Grooming cannot be held liable.

  • We do not subject dogs to the painful process of all over de-matting. It is cruel and unrealistic to expect your dog to endure this. We will need to do a full clip to allow your dog to start fresh. You will need to sign a matted dog release form prior to the start of your groom.

  • All prices, without having personally assessed your dog, are an estimate only and are subject to change at our discretion. Extra charges may apply due to excessive matting or extra time grooming.

  • Dog owners understand that due to safety reasons, NO ONE is allowed in the grooming salon while a dog is being groomed. Clients are only allowed in the salon reception area for check in, and once the dog is available for pick up.

  • Clients will receive an estimated pick up time at check in, and will receive a message 15 minutes prior to the dog being ready for collection.

  • Photos and videos are regularly taken for social media purposes, please inform us if you do not want your dog involved.

  • If Flea or Tick treatment is required, and additonal $15 will apply to the groom fee to cover additional cleaning and products required.

  • Aggressive or Dangerous Pets : Owners MUST inform George’s House Dog Grooming if your dog bites, has bitten, or is aggressive to people, other pets or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. Muzzling will not harm your pet and protects both the pet and the groomer. George’s House Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse/stop services for such pet(s) at any time before or during the grooming process and charge an Aggressive Dog Fee in addition to the regular grooming charge, even after the normal price has been quoted.

  • Anxious Dogs: Owners MUST inform George’s House Dog Grooming if your dog is anxious about a grooming experience, in detail explain how this has come about. Owners MUST inform the groomer if the dog has been put on any form of calming product or weak sedation. Owners need to understand that an anxious dog can lash out because their triggers could be layering. Meaning they could easily turn aggressive in this situation. In the circumstance that this could occur please read the above section on 'aggressive or dangerous pets'. There may be an extra fee in addition to the regular grooming charge, if the dog needs to be allowed extra time for difficulty.

cancellation / no show policy

  • Cancellation and rescheduling of an appointment, by the client, requires 48 hours notice.

  • Cancellations within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment will be required to pay a cancellation fee of 50% of the groom fee.

  • We reserve the right to charge a deposit of 50% of the groom fee should you wish to reschedule.

  • In the event of a family emergency or any other uncontrollable circumstance, the groomer has the discretion to waive the fee within the 48 hour period.

  • George’s House Dog Grooming reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a groom if we feel the need to do so. Every effort will be made to reschedule at a time convenient for the client.

  • It is considered a "no-show" when the client is not available at the scheduled appointment time and does not contact the groomer to cancel or reschedule. We reserve the right to charge the FULL grooming fee due to the loss of revenue caused by a "no-show".

  • Please make every effort to call and cancel or reschedule when possible to avoid such situations. An appointment will not be rebooked until payment is made.

  • George’s House Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse service to any pet or client for any reason.

Matted Dogs

Please note: De-matting is additional $25 on top of the groom fee, or if matting is severe it will be charged at an hourly rate of $75.

Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming session. Mats left in a pet's coat only grow tighter, and can strangle the pet's skin, or eventually tear it open. George’s House Dog Grooming does not wish to cause serious or undue stress to your pet and will not continually de-mat your pet for you. Mats can be very difficult to remove and may require the pet to be shaved. When necessary, removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats.

Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mould, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to re-grow. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioural changes. Prevention is the best defence against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments. There is an extra charge for matted dogs, please understand it is not the groomers fault your dog is in bad condition and if the dog requires veterinarian treatment due to any of the above, this will NOT be at George’s House Dog Grooming’s cost
